Elephant Hair Bracelet

I didn't design or make these, but I used to wear one when I spent 7 years in Kenya as a research fellow with the Kenya Department of Wildlife. Mine was made by the Turkana para-military field force National Park Rangers with whom I patrolled daily.
I came across these while buying trade beads for the collection: African Ethnic & East and it brought back such memories that I had to buy a few for my website. I'm hoping you might enjoy them too.
They are made from the very long tail hairs on the elephants tail...which acts as a fly-swisher (VERY necessary there). Clipping off a half-dozen doesn't deprive the elephant. They are woven into an adjustable bracelet. Applying pressure to the knots opens and tightens the bracelet's opening.
