Larimar and Pearl Pendant Necklace

This stone is a rare blue variety of pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Due to its popularity, it is rapidly becoming mined-out. Much of what remains is of very poor quality: spotted with dark smudges (rather like mold), stained with red, possibly from iron, and is not of the quality required for jewelry. The few pieces I've acquired are notable for their lack of such disfiguring discolorations.
This pendant is 2 1/8 by 1 1/4 inches and is set in an ornate sterling mounting. Hung from a strand of 6~7mm freshwater pearls, interrupted with larimar rondelles bracketed with sterling rondelles and small beads, the necklace is finished with a silver Bali hook and eye clasp and chain.
